Ubuntu Tutorial
October 31, 2005 on 10:14 pm | In Linux, hyper-get, Ubuntu, HOW TO | 29 CommentsI’ve found an excellent Ubuntu tutorial while browsing the web. It’s called Ubuntu Linux for Novices and is written by Paul Stamatiou. It is very easy to understand, and will prove highly useful for users new to Linux.
I’m still looking for some C/GTK+ developers to work on HyperGet, so please let me know if you would like to join the project!
What is HyperGet?!
October 29, 2005 on 10:32 am | In hyper-get | 2 CommentsHere is a simplified explanation of why hyper-get was started and what its purpose is. I think this will help clear up any misunderstandings which may have occured.
Accepted!
October 25, 2005 on 12:17 am | In hyper-get | 6 CommentsHyperGet has officially been accepted by Sourceforge.net! I’ll add the index page to HyperGet (on SF.net) tomorrow, and I’ve already created the HyperGet forums over here for discussion of the project and communication between developers and end users alike. See the ‘Forums’ link above for details.
Submitted!
October 22, 2005 on 9:30 am | In Linux, hyper-get | 1 CommentI’ve submitted the project to Sourceforge! Now all I have to do is sit tight and wait for their reply….which definitely won’t be arriving before Monday.
Please view the rest of this post if you are interested in what I submitted.
Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy
October 22, 2005 on 7:41 am | In Linux | 1 CommentI have switched my home computer to the new version of Ubuntu, and my-oh-my is it pretty! Sleek, efficient, perfect. I love everything about it - the theme, the good hardware detection, the applications it brings, the apt package management system…everything!
While we’re on the subject of apt/apt-get, I am trying to start a project loosely based on apt-zip. It will do what apt-zip does, only it will have far more features and tools, be easy-to-use (so that even the newest of people to Linux can install and run it), be multi-platform (ie. the downloading part of the application will be available for both Windows and Linux) and should be good fun to make! I might even submit the idea to Sourceforge.net soon.
Ps. You’re probably very confused at this point - but don’t worry, more details to come soon!
w00t!
October 22, 2005 on 7:33 am | In Linux | 2 CommentsI’ve finally got this site up and running….w00t!
With time, I’m going to develop this site, but I hope you like the Links page (so far so good!) which I set up a couple of minutes ago. Thanks for coming!
