The plan was to make Gnome and KDE use the same theme and to look the same (cosmetically speaking) so it would matter less which desktop you used. I, like most people, disliked Bluecurve and immediately started tweaking the look so it was a wee bit more unique. And then I stopped using Gnome forever and di the same to KDE :) Yeah, it dates back to, I think, RedHat 8 and the whole Bluecurve thingamibob. So which desktop environment do you program for in the end? :D I'm going to try out Gentoo 2006.0 tomorrow, because apparently it can be installed in about 2 hours if you only use Stage 3 - that sounds a bit more reasonable than two days! But nothing quite as good as GTK. GTK is very good for programming and glade and libglade makes it so easy to separate the interface design from the coding.
